« In-between places are transitional spaces. Places you don’t arrive at but pause in, places where one rests between destinations . They lie along routes and infrastructures, a flickering image in the distance. Gas stations, snack bars, parking lots… They are the connection between here and there, between above and below, between inside and outside. They are also an ideal place for a short break or a brief encounter. »*
During two years, in collaboration with Luciana Ferrando, we captured these moments in a travel diary, in words and pictures. I documented the in-between places with analog 35 mm and medium format cameras in black and white. And Luciana Ferrando recorded in her notebooks the (sometimes pragmatic, sometimes dreamlike) experience of being in these places.
This project led to an article in the german newspaper taz, die Tageszeitung, the publication of a fanzine, and an exhibition in 2026 at the 48 Stunden Neukölln festival.
